Jackie, Joan sent me the article from the paper about Ray. I had heard he was not well and am so sorry he is now gone. It's certainly not easy, even if you think you are prepared; but please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. May God be with you and help you through this time. Warmly, Polly

Dear Jackie---We both want you to know we share your loss and pray for you to have strength and courage during these difficult times. We always looked forward to visiting with both of you at the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation Board meetings. Ray's legacy will live on in the contributions you and Ray have made that help so many students realize their dreams. Janice and Joyce Freeman
- Drs. Janice and Joyce Freeman, Corpus Christi, TX
As a Phi Theta Kappa alumna, I was honored to meet Mr. Hites in the build-up to the Hites Scholarship formal launch. I was moved by how deeply he cared for community college students, believed in our abilities, and wanted to see us (and our institutions) succeed. He was more than a donor; he was our true friend, whether he individually knew us or not. I am constantly amazed by the transformation and injection of enthusiasm he brought to the entire Phi Theta Kappa membership. Mr. Hites changed the lives of countless people simply by believing in us. Please accept my deepest condolences for his family and loved ones at this difficult time, and my gratitude for your willingness to share this wonderful man and his heart with others. His is a legacy that will last in brilliant light for generations.
- J. Ashley Odell, Manchester, CT
Ray was the number one cheerleader for Pat and Jackie's tennis team during the state championship run. He was very supportive and attended every match for the team. Pat came home every day and commented on how much she appreciated his presence at the matches. Pete Stukenberg

Oh - how sad that Ray has passed. I remember the two of you as if it was yesterday. I am so sorry and offer my thoughts and prayers. We are settled outside of Buffalo and have had an amazing snow winter (that is if you like LOTS of snow). I hope you are well, Jackie, and have the support of so many friends at the Landings. Pat
- Pat and Marion Lach, Williamsville, NY
The memory of Ray Hites will live on because of the generosity of the Hites' family in establishing a scholarship fund with Phi Theta Kappa for two year community college graduates to continue their education. All of us on the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation Board will miss Ray.
